The Pixel 3 XL has shown up in nearly constant leaks over the past few weeks. We were able to write over 3,000 words about everything we know about it and the event is still over a month away.  While all of these leaks have been pouring in, one question has been on our mind: where is the Google Pixel 3? We finally have our first look.

We’ve seen the Pixel 3 in renders before, but never real-life photos. The Pixel 3 is a smaller device with the same specs, but one really big difference: no display notch. The display notch has been a big point of contention with the Pixel 3 XL leaks. This has lead a lot of people to crown the Pixel 3 as the better option.

These leaked photos from Reddit (obviously a throwaway account) show the front, back, and sides of the Pixel 3. We can see the 5.5-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2160×1080 resolution. Here are all the specs we can gather from the leak:

  • 5.5-inch display, 2160×1080, 18:9
  • Dual 8MP cameras on the front, just like the Pixel 3 XL .
  • The first camera is capable of f/1.8 and f/2.2, while the second is f/1.8.
  • 2915 mAh battery
  • 4GB of RAM
  • This phone was being tested on a different carrier than Verizon, which is also important to note. The carrier exclusive deal may be coming to an end.

We’ve been waiting to get a glimpse of the Pixel 3 and now we finally have one. It looks like a very nice device and many people will prefer the notch-less design. If you don’t mind a slightly smaller phone, the Pixel 3 may be the best choice. Battery life could be an issue but we won’t know until we test it. What do you think of the Pixel 3 now that you’ve seen it?

How to change the PIM of a VeraCrypt volume

The developers of VeraCrypt introduced Personal Iterations Multiplier (PIM) functionality in the encryption program in version 1.12 . PIM stands for "Personal Iterations Multiplier". It is a parameter that was introduced in VeraCrypt 1.12 and whose value controls the number of iterations used by the header key derivation function. PIM is used by volumes even if the creator of the volume did not specify a value. It is an optional component that improves security: it adds another step to the authentication process similarly to two-factor authentication. The main difference is that the PIM value is fixed and not generated on the fly when requested. An attacker needs to know the master password and the PIM, if not set to default, to breach the encryption successfully and access the content of the drive or partition. A couple of good reasons exist to change the PIM value: It was leaked or stolen. The default value is used and that is not as secure as using a custom PIM. Yo...
