Xiaomi Poco F1 and Xiaomi Mi 8/Explorer Edition kernel source code now available

The post Xiaomi Poco F1 and Xiaomi Mi 8/Explorer Edition kernel source code now available appeared first on BardTech . Recently, Xiaomi has been improving its record when it comes to releasing kernel sources for its phones. Earlier this year, the company committed to releasing kernel sources within three months of a device launch . Although it wasn’t ideal, it was indeed a welcome improvement. It took Xiaomi a long time to release kernel source code for phones such as the Xiaomi Mi A1, but for newer device releases, the company has been posting the sources mostly on time. Xiaomi posted the kernel source code for the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S and the Xiaomi Mi 8 SE shortly after launch. A week ago, the company’s new Poco brand launched the Xiaomi Poco F1 in India and publicly committed to releasing the kernel source code for the device on the day of release. Poco also stated that unlocking the bootloader will not void the warranty on the Poco F1 , as the phone is meant to be develope...

Google Camera ports work without root on the Poco F1, Mi 8, and Mix 2S

The post Google Camera ports work without root on the Poco F1, Mi 8, and Mix 2S appeared first on BardTech . Google Camera ports have been very popular on our forums after we  first reported  on them. Ported Google Camera apps are used for dramatically improving picture quality on many devices thanks to Google’s Portrait Mode and HDR+ technologies. As some of you may already know, Google Camera requires Camera2 API support to work. Most Xiaomi devices lack Camera2 API support out-of-the-box. To activate the API , most Xiaomi users need to at least unlock the bootloader to run a fastboot command if not root their devices to modify build.prop . For the Xiaomi Poco F1 , Xiaomi Mi 8 series, and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S , that’s not necessary. Xiaomi devices with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 or Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chips have Camera2 API support enabled by default. This means that, to install Google Camera ports on these devices, you don’t have to unlock the bootl...

Poco will support the developer community on the Xiaomi Poco F1

The post Poco will support the developer community on the Xiaomi Poco F1 appeared first on BardTech . While the specifications and design of the Xiaomi Pocophone F1 left little to the imagination ahead of the device’s official launch , Poco still had a few tricks up their sleeves. At its core, the specifications aren’t too different from the other Xiaomi flagships here: It has a display notch, it’s powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 system-on-chip with 6 or 8GBs of RAM, has a dual rear 12+5MP camera and 20MP selfie camera, and it runs Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9. But the Poco F1 manages to make its mark with its affordability: Even at a base price of Rs 20,999, the phone makes few compromises. It has an infrared sensor for face unlock, “LiquidCool” technology for sustained performance under load, a 4,000mAh battery, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is knocking on the door of the  OnePlus 6 and the Asus ZenFone 5Z  given its price point in India. But Poco i...

The post Xiaomi Poco F1 forums are now open appeared first on BardTech . The Xiaomi Poco F1 recently launched in India and the XDA Forums are ready for its potential users. This is an exciting device that kicks off Xiaomi’s new “Poco” line. It has some really nice specifications at a competitive price which pits it against the likes of the Asus ZenFone 5Z, Honor Play, and the OnePlus 6 . The Xiaomi Poco F1 (known as the Pocophone F1 outside of India) is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, has 6/8GB of RAM, 64/128/256GB of storage, and runs MIUI 9 on top of Android 8.1 with an official Android 9 Pie update coming in a few months.
