Sony’s Playstation Vue , the over-the-top TV streaming service that’s now up against a host of new competitors including Hulu and YouTube TV, is expanding its lineup to include more local stations. While the service had already offered some limited access to locals in select markets, this expansion brings 200 more stations across the U.S. to its service, including ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC stations. In total, there are now more than 450 local stations available, the company says. (A list of the additions is available here .) The news is notable because of how far behind Playstation Vue has slid in terms of subscribers, since the launch of newcomers to the market. Amazon today publicly launched a new perk for Prime members with young children, with the broad release of the new subscription-based “ Prime Book Box ” service. The $22.99 per box offering ships Prime members in the U.S. a curated selection of kids’ books every 1, 2 or 3 months, at up to 35% off the list price, Amazon says. The service was first launched in May,  but was only available in an invite-only basis at that time. Members will receive 2 hardcover books or 4 board books per box, depending on the child’s age. The books chosen are curated by Amazon editors and include a combination of new releases, classics and “hidden gems,” and are tailored to the reader’s age range of “Baby-2,” “3-5,” “6-8,” or “9-12.” For example, some current selections include Amazing Airplanes, Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, Malala’s Magic Pencil, and Nevermoor.  Ho...

Ipsy, the beauty box subscription service  and e-commerce site founded in 2011 by YouTube creator Michelle Phan, is expanding its business beyond sample-sized products. The company today is debuting a more expensive “ Glam Bag Plus ” subscription, which will ship customers five full-sized products for $25 per month. The move aims to capitalize on Ipsy’s established customer base who now trust Ipsy’s beauty products recommendations to the point they’re willing to pay upfront for full-sized products, instead of only samples with the option to later shop online for the products they liked. It may also help attract a new customer who doesn’t find value in samples – which are sometimes one-use products, or packaged poorly compared with their full-size counterparts, making them difficult to travel with or throw in a purse.
