Save any webpage as a single file in Chrome or Firefox

The post Save any webpage as a single file in Chrome or Firefox appeared first on BardTech . SingleFile is a cross-browser open source extension for Firefox, Google Chrome and Opera to save any webpage you come across as a single HTML file. All modern web browsers come with options to save webpages; all you have to do is press Ctrl-S to save the webpage to the local system. While that works okay most of the time, it is not optimal for many use cases as a folder with required files is saved for each HTML document you save in the browser. Internet users have other options when it comes to saving webpages. From capturing screenshots of the entire webpage to using extensions like the excellent Mozilla Archive Format add-on . The latter is not compatible with Firefox 57 on the other hand. Browse files of GitHub repositories comfortably

The post Browse files of GitHub repositories comfortably appeared first on BardTech . Insight.io for Github is a browser extension for the Google Chrome web browser that adds a directory tree structure to Github repositories to browse all files of the repository comfortably. Browsing repositories on GitHub is not the most pleasant experience that you can have; you can only select one directory to open to display the file it contains. The loading takes a bit of time and going back to open another directory takes time as well. Also, this is quite bad for keeping an overview of the files of the project. While you can download the repository to your system or use GitHub’s desktop application , it is not always the best course of action especially if you are just interested in a couple of files (to download or check). Tip : The Ghacks user.js for Firefox is on GitHub . If you download a lot, check out GitHub Plus for Chrome . Insight.io for Github Insight.io for Github is a Chrom...

Chrome experiment hides Search URLs

The post Chrome experiment hides Search URLs appeared first on BardTech . Google is testing a change in the company’s Chrome web browser currently that hides the URL in the address bar when users run searches in the browser. The experimental feature is only available on Android currently, but the description suggests that it will also become available for desktop versions of Chrome and Chrome OS. A search for the flag on a Windows PC returned zero hits at the time of writing though. Note : Experimental flags are added to test functionality. There is no guarantee that an experiment will be integrated into Chrome natively; it could very well be removed entirely at any point in time. Google revealed recently that it will remove secure indicators from Chrome’s address bar . The flag, Query in Omnibox, removes the address of the search results page from the Chrome address bar and replaces it with the search query instead. The images on the following screenshot show the difference. T...

Don't Fuck with Paste for Chrome and Firefox

The post Don't Fuck with Paste for Chrome and Firefox appeared first on BardTech . Don’t Fuck with Paste is a browser extension for Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox web browsers that unblocks the use of copy and paste on any website you visit. Some companies and developers believe that it is a good idea to block certain built-in features of the operating system on their sites. Copy and paste is probably one of the better known examples for that. Sites may block you from pasting into password fields, for instance during sign in or sign up to a service. During sign-up, it is probably done to make new users type the password so that they can remember it better and don’t make any mistakes when they paste it. Downside is that it prevents anyone from using a password manager or generator effectively. While it is still possible to generate passwords using those programs or tools, you’d have to type it manually on sites that block pasting unless you bypass the limitation . Don’t Fu...

Chrome 69 makes Flash use annoying

The post Chrome 69 makes Flash use annoying appeared first on BardTech . Google Chrome 69, the next Stable version of the popular desktop web browser, will make Flash usage highly annoying for users that require it. The company revealed that it will change the current permissions system for Flash. Currently, Chrome users can allow a site to run Flash . Doing so enables Flash support for that particular site from that moment on until the permission gets revoked by the user.  When you visit the site again, Flash is enabled on the site so that it can be used without having to give explicit permission again. Starting with Chrome 69, Chrome does not allow users to set permanent Flash permissions for sites anymore. The effect? Users have to allow Flash on each session. Visit a gaming site regularly that requires Flash? Your favorite online game still requires Flash?
